Security Recommendations

Banco de Chile provides a secure environment for the identification and authentication of its clients.
At the same time, you as the client play a fundamental role in protecting your privacy and your banking identification.
Recommendations:
  • Protect and keep confidential the passwords you use on the Internet.
  • Avoid using the same password originally provided to you by the Bank.
  • The password that you use to access the Bank’s services on the Internet must have a minimum of 6 digits (with a maximum of 8) for personal banking clients and 4 digits (with a maximum of 6) for business banking clients.
  • We strongly recommend that you create a password that is alphanumeric (with at least one letter).
  • Do not disclose your password to anybody.
  • Avoid using easily obtainable passwords, such as your date of birth, telephone numbers, names, etc.
  • Periodically change your password.
  • Avoid realizing banking transactions from public places (Cybercafes, for example).
  • Avoid using the same password that you use for other online services, such as email or other subscription service

When connecting to the Bank online, a safe and encrypted ' session' between your computer and Banco de Chile is initiated. Once you have finalized your operations and upon clicking the ' Logout' button, the safe session with the Banco de Chile server is terminated, disabling all access to your accounts.

As an additional measure of safety, an online session with the Bank’s server will be automatically disconnected after a period of inactivity of more than 5 minutes. This helps you to avoid, in the event that you forget to close the session, that another person can continue operating your account from the equipment that you were using. Once the session has been timed out, you will have to reenter your login and password information to be able to continue operations.

How to verify that the session with Banco de Chile is being encrypted
The Internet direction (URL) of the page that you are visiting when the safe session is started will begin with the "https", instead of "HTTP". For example, the secure site address of Banco de Chile is "https://www.bancochile.cl/cgi_bin/".
